The draft Commission Authorising Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 has been published. The draft introduces new and revised entries for the uniform classification and labelling of 32 substances or groups of substances by amending Table 3 of Part 3 of Annex VI to the CLP Regulation, the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures Regulation.
The Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures Regulation (CLP) establishes an EU-wide list of substances with harmonised classification and labelling elements. In accordance with Article 37 (5) of (EC) No 1272/2008, the Commission is authorised to promptly add substances to Table 3, Part 3, of Annex VI, when harmonisation of classification and labelling is considered appropriate. On the basis of the opinion of the Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and taking into account feedback from Member States and stakeholders, it is considered reasonable to introduce or update harmonised classification and labelling of certain substances and to amend Table 3, Part 3 of Annex VI to (EC) No 1272/2008 accordingly. Compliance with the new or updated harmonized classification was not immediately required, however, as suppliers needed sufficient time to adjust the labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures to reflect these changes and to sell existing stock in accordance with previous regulatory requirements.
